action speaks louder that words

When someone shows middle finger to you, what does it means?

Literally it means fuck rite? It’s so degrading and abusive at some point. Well, action speaks louder that words. It really does.

Discover Borneo: Day 4 (pm) – Journey to Sepilok, Sandakan

After we left Seaventures, we went through a whole set of new adventure to reach Sepilok hence I have to separate the day 4 journey to 2 entries. As told earlier, we have outlined our itenary with husna and angah while waiting for the countdown to New Year 2008. Everything has to go according to the itenary or else the next day will be a mess (i.e we might miss flight, miss boat, etc). This is due to constraint in terms of financing and time. If we are at the luxury to have 2-3 weeks holidays, there will not be a problem to adjust the itenary here and there. Usually mat salleh will do that as they spend usually almost 1 month at Borneo itself.

Anyway, the only thing we did not book/plan is for the following journey – bus from Semporna to Sepilok. It is absolutely a gamble in our part. Thus went we arrive in Semporna, we quickly look for buses. The express bus already depart in the morning, so that’s not an option. So Amran, the Seaventures guy brought us to bus mini station where they has bus mini to Lahad Datu. We wanted to charter the whole van to send us direct to Sepilok but that will cost us RM350. So above budget, so not an option! (driver tu charge mahal coz die kena antar pergi and balik maybe tak dapat penumpang).

Tapi abg2 driver tu still pujuk2 we all utk charter van, ckp nanti gelap susah, etc etc. We have to explain kitorang bukannya taknak cuma ongkos nya enggak cukup. Agak lama discuss last last decide nak naik je van lompat2. Memula naik van ke Lahad Datu then carik plak yg ke Sandakan. Van cost us RM18/each. (Diorang panggil bas mini tapi rupa fizikalnya adalah van). We prayed hard to arrive Lahad Datu before dark coz the last bus to leave Lahad Datu to Sandakan is at 6pm (Sepilok is before Sandakan). Kalau terlepas yg tu mmg naya….

Singgah plak isi minyak +isi angin, coz time of the essence bila berenti sket terus teras pressure. Luckily lepas tu van tu bawak laju giler. Passed by a school named S.K. Bubul, very cute name. Tengah van tu merempit, bunyi tayar meletup. Wow…this was the 2nd time tayar pancit in our adventure (the last time masa kat Kudat). Nasib baik ada tayar spare. Benda2 camnie laa merisaukan aku takut stranded kat Lahad Datu. Lepas sambung journey, hujan laa plak dan yg kelakarnya kitorang yg duduk kat belakang nie especially Along kena tempias2 hujan. Van bocor rupanya! Mmg mcm Amazing Race tul la:).

Sampai Lahad Datu still hujan lebat. Risau giler coz kalau kitorang ambik bus direct ke Sandakan, kena jalan kaki masuk ke dalam utk masuk ke Sepilok. So driver van tolong carikkan taxi sapu. Ada yg okay nak hantar tapi mintak RM200/van. Nego punya nego dapat RM150. Kitorang akhirnya agree je sebab azan maghrib pun dah berkumandang (dah pukul 630pm) dan rasanya tak sanggup nak menapak 2km kalau dlm keadaan hujan+gelap+bwk beg berat.

Sebelum gerak, pergi buang air beramai ramai kat kedai makan. Bagus betul kat sini kedai makan mesti ada toilet yg bersih. Angah nampak KFC but we managed to astray her hehe…Lepas tu me pergi Maybank nak draw duit and ajak angah teman. Tanya pak guard kat mana ATM dia tak jawab. So unfriendly! Seb baik ada orang awam dengar, die tolong tunjukkan. Angah pun sibuk nak draw gak, alih alih…kad angah kena telan pulak!!! Ya Allah, mcm mcm jadi harinie. NCR ATM tu restart mcm Windows PC and terus tulis ‘out of service’. Sabor jer.

Terpaksa laa kitorang pergi buat muka kesian kat pak guard yg kerek tadi. Dia kata kena amik esok tapi kitorang beg laa kata nak kena pi Sandakan kejap lagik. Luckily die pergi panggil orang dalam bank (bank dah tutup tapi ada pekerja lagik dlm tu). Sorang kakak keluar, bile dah explain2 die kate tunggu kejap. Pastu ada officer handsome plak keluar, buat laa muka kesian lagik and explain lagik. Dia kata tunggu 5 minit. Lepas 5 minit, abg handsome keluar with Munie’s card. Yeayyy!!! Thanks to Maybank officer Lahad Datu!

Pastu terus gerak ke Sepilok. Driver tu nama Kadir, asal dari Sandakan tapi dah 20 thn duduk Lahad Datu. Wahhh yg nie bawak lagi laju dari van tadi, 120km/hr. Tapi dia familiar dgn jalan kat situ so okay la. Busy gak jalan tu walaupun dah malam coz tu Jalan utama Sandakan-Tawau and Sandakan-KK. Tapi kesian jalan gelap gelita takde lampu jalan. Bila dah nak sampai Sepilok, ada accident lori panjang with a few cars. Penyek siot kereta Kelisa tu.

2km dari jalan besar tu mmg confirm gelap giler. Nasib baik siot tak naik bas biasa. Takut siot nak jalan dlm gelap. Dahlah torchlite ada 2 je, orang ada 6 hehehe…Wise decision.

Anyway, kitorang selamat sampai kat Sepilok Jungle Resort. Sewa bilik simple je sbb mmg semata mata nak tido je, esok terus nak blah ke Sepilok Orang Utan plak. Rapat2 kan katil and susun tempat tidur. Husna kena tidur atas tilam, ala2 Rorizan laa hehehe…(kalau tak kena masuk bubuh adat plak kweng kweng).

Due to confine space, semua orang kena solat atas katil masing2 except hubby decline coz die takut tertido atas katil terus haha. So die solat kat hujung bilik beralaskan my blanket tapi tetiba tergelak plak coz ternampak ‘wonderwoman’ kat my blanket hehe…Me, munie and hubby lapar giler so pergi carik makanan kat cafe. Kitorang membayangkan mee goreng tapi malangnya cafe dah tutup so dapat beli roti buku je. Tapi roti buku pun sedap beb…hehe..

Lepas ketawa terkekek kekek dgn munie mengenangkan journey kitorang haritu, akhirnya tertido gak dgn nyenyaknya sambil peluk hubby…

Discover Borneo: Day 4 – Sipadan, the untouched island

Woke up at 6.00am with a sound of sms. It was from my dear friend ayin. My cellphone is fully charged after a few hours out of battery. Seaventures bukan setakat ada power-point to charge handphone, internet pun ada so that Amin can check his facebook;). Lepas solat, Husna pulak message mintak panadol. Alamak tour guide kita dah pening kepala!

Lepas breakfast, terus gerak ke Sipadan. I’ve heard so much about Sipadan especially from my dear niece, Munie so I have very high hopes on it. According to Munie kalau dah sampai Sipadan, memang susah laa nak terpesona dgn pulau2 lain.

Sampai Sipadan, diving master daftarkan nama kitorang (there’s a limit how many people can be there in a day for environment purpose). Pulau tu cuma ada askar je. Diorang duduk situ 3 bulan, then tukar shift orang lain pulak. Lepas daftar, hantar angah and sorang lagi brader from Msia gak tempat diving. Aku excited coz diving master kate mmg confirm akan nampak turtle! Tapi nervous gak takut ombak kuat mcm semalam.

Lompat aje dari boat, WOWWWW WEEEE banyak giler ikan!!!!… MasyaAllah, memang akuarium semulajadi ciptaan Allah S.W.T. So peaceful and calm, only God knows how I felt that time. Such serenity.

First time nampak turtle tak perasan ape benda, ingatkan batu. Hubby pointed out to me 3 times only I realised! Rabunnya aku hehehe…. Me and hubby decided our own hand-sign to describe things underwater (sbb mulut takboley bukak kan). Such as ‘thumbs up’ means best and a big circle mean very big fish;)

Seriously, the turtle I saw is so different from pictures. Corak di badannya begitu detail and ada 2 ikan sibuk makan /jilat atas badan penyu tu betul betul depan mata. A priceless picturesque indeed.

Among the fish species that we found are batfish, jackfish (which we actually had for dinner last night), fusiliers, dory fish, long fin banner fish, pinktail fish, shark!!!!, and my favourite the mandarin fish. It is so gorgeous I stared it for a very long time until hubby get boring. I’m actually not a fan of fish/aquarium/pond, so this whole thing is quite an experience to me.

Then we rest for half an hour at Sipadan Island (coz those divers have their time limit to be under the sea). Time tu kitorang dgn jakunnya mandi pantai, tak tahan siot air clear giler!!! Lepas tu sambung snorkling pulak, boat hantar kat tempat lain pulak. Kali nie lagik banyak school of fish and turtle. Hubby was so excited to go to the reef (tempat yg lagik dalam dan gelap siot), which I was so reluctant to go. Air die sejuk lain macam kat situ!

There was one big turtle swam right in front of me, I feel like hopping on its body (mcm nemo hehehe). Tapi hubby tak kasik kejar turtle tu in case die takut. Then hubby tunjuk sign ‘time out’. Alaaa…taknak balik….! isk isk…

We have to leave the amazing Sipadan. Back at Seaventures at noon, terus mandi, makan, pack barang (someone mistakenly hang our dry clothes instead of the wet one!), and depart to Semporna….bye bye Sipadan.

Discover Borneo: Day 3 – To the Ocean Deep

Terjaga dalam bas pukul 4 pagi. Along kata dah nak sampai. Alhamdulilah, the bus was not so bad. Although kepala terhantuk2 kat cermin sebab bas bawak laju gila mcm kat litar Sepang (I wanted to change place with abang tapi die pulak ada alasan nak duduk kat aisle coz kaki panjang). So I have to cope with the frequent head banging on the window. Then pinggang sakit laa sket sbb duduk selama 9 jam kan. Still, I’m glad there’s no dangdut songs on the radio as experienced by Angah & Along during their last trip.

Sampai pekan, terus gerak ke masjid. Baru nak azan waktu tu. Tempat pompuan kunci jadi terpaksa lepak tempat lelaki belah belakang. Rasa nak buang air sesangat, tapi terpaksa simpan niat bila tengok toilet kotor. Ramai gak orang dtg solat subuh kat situ. After prayer, aku terus lelap mata dengan nyenyaknya hingga dibuai mimpi (I actually dreamt about the coming bowling tournament).

My dream was disturbed by hubby, sibuk die nak carik berus gigi. He went out with Along, buat ape lagik..ambik gambar la. And me and Angah as usual, tido…hehe:)

Pukul 7am baru hubby dtg kejut for breakfast. Bangun, cuci muka seadanya, kemas barang, ckp terima kasih kat abg yg jaga masjid tu dan terus gerak. Lalu kat area morning market. Best market die sayur besar2, kalau naik direct flight dari Semporna boley la belikan utk mama. Breakfast kat normal kopitiam, bantai nasik lemak 2 pinggan. Abis licin termasuk la kacang huserz yg makan hehe:). Except for Along die minum air suam aje for breakfast! diet siot. Tapi tokeh tu charge nasik lemak mahal tau. RM2 sebungkus, mesti sebab die tau we all tourists.

Lepas tu gerak ke jetty PST coz last year they all naik kat situ. Tengok2 silap jetty, huserz siap kena sound lagik ngan orang PST tu, very rude! Last2 jumpa gak orang Seaventures, naik bot and gerak ke Seaventures Rig! Yeayyy!!! Excited la sbb boat laju giler. Racing dengan satu lagi bot yg memuatkan mat saleh. Mat saleh semua pakai life jacket, we all aje yg tak (mcm laa terer swim!).

Tengah2 racing, minyak habis hehehe..Hubby dgn excited nyer tgk macamana diorang isi minyak bot. *duhh*. Sampai2 Seaventures Rig, kitorang disambut dengan welcome drinks. Pastu naik atas letak barang. Angah ada taklimat ngan dive master. Hubby and the rest pulak siap pergi berenang bawah rig tu, kata diorang byk giler ikan. Me? I was sleeping soundly in the room. Sejuk and best giler tidur! As usual siap mimpi, kali nie mimpi Along & Husna plak hahaha.

Luper plak nak cerita. Seaventures nie kat tengah2 laut near Mabul island. Asalnya dia platform/rig or whatever laa nama technical nyer, but then bila dah tak guna tokeh die pindahkan rig tu ke tempat sekarang nie la utk tujuan tourism. Ada 4-5 tingkat, bilik2 die kecik je tapi very comfortable dan yg paling best angin nyaman sepoi sepoi bahasa almaklum dok tengah laut. You guys can check the Seaventures website for more info: http://seaventuresdive.com/

Lepas diorang mandi manda kat bawah rig tu and I had my beautiful sleep, we had a delicious chicken curry and fish taucu for lunch. Then we all pergi Kapalai island for snorkeling and Angah for diving. It was my first time snorkeling. Aku nie jangan kate swimming, floating pun tak reti hence my big fear to deep water Allah saja yang tahu. Kalau diikutkan aku taknak dtg pun tempat nie tapi atas pujukan angah & husna di malam tahun baru tempoh hari;), aku agree la.

Anyway, I was damn scared bila kena terjun dari boat. My fear jadik mkn membuak buak bila dah terjun! Coz ombak besar siot and aku terus panic! Air masin giler!!! Pastu zip life jacket siap terbukak lagik and tak dpt pun nak gerak2 coz arus kind of bringing me to under the boat. Let alone nak move the fin ala ala mermaid. Thank God hubby (it was his first time, too) and Along helped me tremendously.

After they tolong kemaskan balik ikatan my jacket, Along persuaded me to look under the water. Hence I did. Oh wow… It was so serene down there, it’s like 2 different worlds. Terkejut giler sebenarnya aku. Wah…really really tak sangka. I saw amongst others fish in rainbow color and a very bright blue fish the size of 50 cents coin busying looking for food.

So to all those out there yg takut nak snorkeling, no need to worry. It’s really amazing and not that hard to do. You just need a spoon of courage and 2 obedient helpers:) Thanks hubby and Along for helping me!

Lepas 1 hour snorkeling, balik rig and minum. Pastu pergi Mabul island plak. We went around 5pm, the timing was right since the villagers were out for their recreation activities. The adorable kids as young as 2 years old were swimming. Diorang punya rambut agak blonde, angah kata sebab mandi air laut + cahaya matahari. Some kids were playing getah and guli (actually that was my first time tengok orang main guli..haha) while adults were playing volleyball and basketball.

Later, Hubby and Angah pun terjun sama mandi kat jetty. I just realised hubby really love swimming, we should go swim more often. Btw, according to the villagers, there’s a cheap backpacker lodge at Mabul called Uncle Chang Longhouse, you can try googled it on the net.

I really love Mabul. It such a peaceful place, so much different from the hectic city life. Check out some of the adorable kids’ pictures captured by Along at our fotopages:-
